unique + creative can be a fun and darling wedding cake!...

Like I always say, I love being creative! The crazier, funkier, and "out of the box" something is, the more fun I truly have with it.

I was so very very honored to be chosen to do a wedding cake this past weekend for one of my really good friends. The couple are two of the sweetest and most fun people out there. They knew exactly what they wanted for their small family wedding cake (the wedding was located in Palos Verdes, California).

Since the bride loves Hello Kitty and the groom is a huge Boston Red Sox fan, they wanted a wedding cake that said just that. So I made 9" red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I then had my husband help create some fun (and very personalized) decorations- edible Hello Kitty red and Boston Red Sox navy polka dot circles and of course, an edible Hello Kitty "bride" and Boston B "groom". The bride is wearing a hand made tulle veil and the groom- a top hat. So neat and fun!!!

You can purchase the polka dots here and the Hello Kitty here!

hello kitty inspired bridal shower...{part four}

Cupcakes and Tinis on a White Cupcake Tier

Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Rods with Rainbow Jimmies

Finally, we've reached the last blog on the adorable Hello Kitty inspired bridal/bachelorette party. Thanks for sticking it through with me! :)

Here is the final product, at the party location, all set up and enjoyed. Every guest was given their own pink margarita glass to decorate with Hello Kitty stickers, Hello Kitty jewelry, and inspired snacks to munch on and enjoy. So fun! Prizes were given out for each game that included (you guessed it) Hello Kitty decorated gifts.

My red velvet tinis and cupcakes, vanilla cupcakes and tinis with cream cheese frosting, and chocolate dipped pretzels were a big hit, with many "Are these things on top really edible???...How cool!!!" The best part? The bride's happy (and very honest surprised reaction)!

hello kitty inspired bridal shower...{part three}

Yes we are still continuing with the Hello Kitty bridal/bachelorette party! I really wanted to give each cupcake its shining moment! Hang on there...

Shown here is a regular sized cupcake made of vanilla bean cake and topped with cream cheese frosting that we tinted Hello Kitty pink. I then hand made little engagement (or wedding, depending on how you'd like to see them) rings which I placed on the tops of each regular sized yummy cupcake. Adorable, right?

hello kitty inspired bridal shower...{part two}

You can find these beauties here!
Continuing with our last blog on the cute (and so fun) bridal/bachelorette party I just did, are the super cute vanilla tinis with cream cheese frosting, dyed a very Hello Kitty pink! I really wanted to make the bride-to-be feel special so we hand made vanilla flavored gum paste circles with her new last name written across it.

Think about it...moist and fluffy vanilla cake topped with sweet and tangy cream cheese frosting...all topped with a beautiful and personal touch- your upcoming new married last name? Yes please!

hello kitty inspired bridal shower...{part one}

You can find these here!
I am on a wedding high right now! They're all over the place! Bridal showers, engagement parties, and of course, weddings themselves. I love weddings!!

I just did a really fun bridal/bachelorette party combination with a Hello Kitty theme for a really good friend of mine! How neat is that? Pinks and reds were all over the place as well as Hello Kitty everything!

I offered to make the sweet treats of course, which included red velvet and vanilla tinis and cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and chocolate dipped pretzels. Be on the lookout for follow up blogs with pictures of those vanilla cupcakes and also those pretzels!

On the red velvet tinis, we hand made little red Hello Kitty inspired bows made out of yummy vanilla flavored gum paste. They came out so incredibly cute!

freshly baked...

I don't usually do this, but I thought a little outside of what's normal is a good thing.

I have a wedding cake coming up this week...Saturday to be exact. I won't say much about it- due to it's own special upcoming blog... but I will say- it's going to be Red Velvet. mmmmMMMMmmmmmm! I went ahead and made more than what I'd need so I could have some tinis on hand. Goodness they came out looking beautiful! Freshly baked...steaming hot...exuding all its yummy sweet aromas...

So...I couldn't resist from taking a picture and getting it up online for you all to see. Let's all take a second together, and really soak up the deliciousness that is-Red Velvet Tinis. :)

love is in the air...

What a wonderful blessing, to find someone you can truly love and have that love reciprocated!

This last weekend our parents celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary. How very exciting. Just stop for one second and think about living with, loving, sleeping next to, experiencing life...with the same one person, for 27 years.... Isn't it amazing?

I took that beautiful opportunity to make them a very simple little cake. Just 6"...red velvet...cream cheese frosting..and some edible handmade flowers. A little (yummy) way to say "Thanks for being a great example to us newlyweds".

toy story themed 5th birthday cake...

It's been a while since our last post...but we have good reason!

I was recently asked to do a my friend's little boy's 5th birthday cake! What a blessing! Turning 5 is such a big deal, both for mom and the child! (maybe more for mom??) The theme was "Toy Story" so of course the cake had to match. The mom wanted a two-tiered cake...

The bottom: 9" round of my yummy (vanilla)² flavored cake, colored and made to look like "Andy's Room". This was to be the "Woody" tier. Making the exact blue as Andy's room was quite the challenge!! But I accomplished it! Each cloud was hand cut (and I mean hand cut, no cookie cutters here!) out of yummy vanilla fondant using a stencil created by the amazing Bill Main. You can find those clouds and purchase them here!

The top: 6" round of Red Velvet! This was to be the "Buzz" tier, with stars and colors matching accordingly. Again each star was colored and stencil created by Bill Main, and then hand cut. And, yep- you can purchase those stars here!

Once at the party, Toy Story figures and toys were placed around to really tie the whole thing together. What a fun cake!!! We truly enjoyed working with this friend of mine, as she really let her creativity shine!

as fun as funfetti!...

Yet again, another fan suggestion has been created! Thank you to all of our followers and supporters for your love and ideas!!

Can you tell we have acquired a new camera? :) So stoked for that! Better pictures and a lot more crisp detail shown... Ahhhhh feels good. Now I just have to learn how to use the thing!!

Here's a fun twist on a Pillsbury favorite...FUNFETTI! You know what we're talking about- that little box cake mix of super moist vanilla cake with sprinkles you bake right in. Then topped with fluffy vanilla frosting and more sprinkles. Well we were blessed with this awesome idea from a fan of ours on our Facebook page a few weeks ago and, yet again...we couldn't resist. Our fans come up with such great ideas!!

Now, of course we couldn't use a box cake mix so we went straight to the kitchen to develop and test from-scratch recipes. A little nervous about how to exactly get those little bright rainbow colored specks within the cake, we tried a few things and finally found it!

So here's my own version of the classic Funfetti! Moist white vanilla cake with bursts of color throughout topped with our own fluffy vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles. Enjoy!
