our browned butter cake with white chocolate frosting is as cute as a button...

These cute little buttons are now available at our Etsy Shop!

I've been wanting to make gum paste buttons for a LONG time now. Thing is...lately I find spare time to be...well...sparse.

My husband's gorgeous little cousin (19 is "little" right?) just recently had a little birthday celebration/goodbye party (she's off to Norway in a few days). What a perfect time for me to "play around" and have some fun...try out a new recipe I've been working on and finally get to those buttons! Plus, if you ask me- the best present you could get or give is...a cake :)

Here I am showing my Browned Butter Cake with White Chocolate Frosting. "OK hold on, hold on...browned butter.." you ask? OH YES. Browned butter is not only absolutely amazing in savory foods, but it gives the most amazingly nutty, buttery, caramel-like, and "deep" flavor to any sweet thing you add it to. Holy moly is this delicious. I made mine into a 6" cake, but you could easily do this as cupcakes and of course, tinis. Rich, nutty, sweet layers of cake are enveloped in the lightest, fluffiest, silkiest, and white chocolate-iest (?) frosting.
