diy flag cupcake toppers...

Ok so this project couldn't be easier. Typing it all up while you have a large, heavy (and shall we say...fat??) cat not only wanting to lay on your computer/lap/arms but also wanting to walk around on such areas AND make kneading motions with needle-like claws??? HARDER! Way harder than the actual project. I actually typed that last sentence out 3 different times because I kept getting bumped, stepped on, buttons pushed, cat tails flung in my face, etc.

Such is life sometimes. We'll see how this goes.

So this project! Easy peasy. Winner winner chicken dinner. Yum-O. Cool as a cucumber. BAM! Just do it.

Things were going all fine and dandy in "Cupcake Making Land" the weekend my husband turned 31. But then I thought to myself, "SELF! Let's make these cupcakes THAT much cuter and festive for his big day!" Whipped out some construction paper, brought out the scissors and glue, and away I went.

Talk about fun times had. Fun times until (once again) the cats ruined it. I guess cats REALLY like construction paper- because before I knew it, they were all up in my business swatting every bunting and flag I made...chewing on toothpicks and string...knocking EVERYTHING on the floor and making me weep like a little girl. UN.HAPPY.FACE. Hahaha. Oh cats, how I actually do really love thee.

Let's make some friggin' cupcake toppers, shall we!?

DIY Flag Cupcake Toppers

What you need:

  • Construction paper in assorted colors
  • Scissors
  • Glue or double stick tape
  • Toothpicks

That's it!

Here are the even easier instructions :) Remember making cut out hearts in grade school?? Same idea- fold your construction paper in half. Cut your flag however you'd like it to look! I chose the " < " edge look, but you can for sure make triangles, etc. And viola! You have a two sided folded flag (perfect for sticking a toothpick into).

Next add a little double stick tape (or glue) into the inside of the flag, stick a toothpick on bottom half, fold other side of flag over, and adhere! If using glue, press really well and let dry an hour before using.

Trim any excess showing paper, and you're ready to go!

Would also look super cute with stickers or the birthday boy's name written across ;)

Since I didn't have a birthday boy; rather a birthday man- I opted for plain flags.

I mean, seriously, this could NOT get any easier as far as cupcake decorations go. Well wait...I guess you can add sprinkles and that WOULD be easier. But let's not argue.

  1. These are super cute. I so gonna make these to amp up my cupcakes!

  2. Great, simple topper! {I love simple}
