Well, well, well, would you look at this. We officially know what we're having! After 19 very long weeks, we headed to the Dr for our normal checkup and right away were told if we were going to be blessed with a little boy or a little girl. We couldn't have been happier. Not going to lie, there were total tears of joy. We're both so stoked.
Not wanting to announce anything subtly (haha), we decided what better way to let our family in on our secret than with a little party. Honestly, it's just an excuse to get family together for a Sunday afternoon.
We decided on having a very low key, budget friendly, little dessert and coffee gender reveal get together at my uncle's house. Since Bill and I already knew the sex, I saved money by making our own gender reveal cake. This would be how we'd tell our family- we'd gather round and slice off a big 'ol piece! Worked like a charm and super fun.
Here's how it all went down...
For the food, I kept it simple with some of our favorites: homemade chocolate "gender reveal" cake, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (mmMmmm my absolute fave!), and homemade pumpkin bread with a simple glaze. It was so hot the day we had it! My poor pumpkin bars had seen better days.
For drinks, we made it even simpler: Starbucks' gallon brewed to-go coffee (comes with cream, cups, stirrers, and sugars!), lemon water, and a few little alcoholic add ins for the coffee, should anyone want :) Silverware was really plastic, tablecloth was washable and the napkins were disposable. Score. We did keep it classy with the plates though- white china :)
My husband and I made all the decorations, which honestly took a few hour spurts throughout the week before. Couldn't be easier. Cardstock in blues and pinks cut into bunting and question marks , and also a few made into placemats for the dessert table. We also had black cardstock which we made look like a chalkboard- both for the welcome sign (which my husband HAND LETTERED and PAINTED himself! Was beautiful!) and the voting sheet.
When guests arrived, we got to just hang out, chat a little bit, and talk baby! We also asked all our family to come wearing the color they thought Baby Main was: blue for boy, pink or purple for girl. As you can see, we had a LOT of blues!
When the big time came, we gathered everyone around and cut a giant slice of cake- carefully! We didn't want to show any of the inside's frosting before we were able to lift it up!
And we're having...........
The Lord has blessed this family of ours with a little bouncing baby boy. And boy is he a bouncer! Quite the busy one in my tummy!
Brand new grandpas and grandmas, uncles and aunts, cousins and even great uncles and great grandmas were there! Everyone cheered and clapped and were just SO excited! My husband of course, is beyond words in his excitement.
So now we've got the first nephew and first grandson coming! For both sides of the family! Neat doesn't even begin to explain how cool it is. We're so glad we revealed this way! It was so fun to be able to hear and see everyone's reactions, in one loving room. Baby Main, you are loved!
